It is the truth.

It *was* the truth; then we added Berlin-style ping pong to the mix.

(But seriously, it was Tom Marioni’s work that inspired Joey Piziali to do ping pong happy hours at his gallery in the Dogpatch, which is where we first heard about Dr. Pong in Berlin, which we visited and loved, and which basically resulted in American Tripps being a thing. So: no Marioni, no Berlin-style ping pong scene in SF.)

(Also, put a team together and join the SF Berlin-Style Ping Pong League, which has a new six-week season starting up next Monday, if you’d like to partake in the new highest form of art.)

Moving tables (and babes) into Z Space for Saturday night’s epic bash. This is going to be fun!

We’re giving away one of these sweet PBR paddles every day this week courtesy of PBR and Dear Mom, in anticipation of our FREE PBR party on Saturday at Z Space.

To win one today, do one of the following three things and post the result on our Facebook wall:

• Take a picture of yourself in dire need of a sweet ping pong paddle. We need to see the need in your face.
• Do a drawing or painting or sketch of some kind of awesome Berlin-style ping pong action. Extra points if you’re illustrating some kind of awesome thing that actually happened at American Tripps.
• Write a poem about Berlin-style ping pong in San Francisco. Extra points if it’s awesome.

Today’s contest ends at midnight. Winner will be chosen based on merit, and you can pick up your paddle at Saturday’s event (or any of our other events).
